November Review

Soooooo first month as an unemployed poker degen went pretty good, I broke my biggest $$$ month again finishing up $5,500. Wasn't planning on playing at all in November but after 2 weeks of relaxing and zero poker I was in the mood for getting started. Put 15k hands in, will be looking to play at least double that in the following months.

Holdem Manager logged me as putting 35 hours this month, mainly 6 tabling which I'm very comfortable with now. Worked more 2/4 into my game towards the end of the month and ran well. Will probably jump around the games again next month but play more mid-stakes than 1/2.

Away from the tables I've slipped into a shitty routine of going to bed around 5-6am and getting up at like midday-2pm. Not so awesome really. So looking to kick that next month and also spend a lot of time in the gym, would like to get a solid workout program in place before Thailand so I can continue it across there. Got ton of other stuff to sort away from the tables next month like Christmas, Thailand prep, and getting ready to move out of my flat, will need to shift my stuff into storage or something.

Next month I'll continue to expand my non-poker player portion of income. I've always wanted to coach players and I'll be looking to take on students in January. Next month I'm hoping to do sessions with a couple of friends to ease myself into coaching and make sure everything's ready for future students. The blog advertising stuff is going well so that'll continue next month. Also I'll be looking to expand the affiliate deals I offer and offer them more effectively. So lots of things to work on.

Anyways, next month goals...
  • 30-40k hands
  • Do a few coaching sessions
  • Improve affiliate deals
  • Sort VISA and book Thailand flights

Thailand

For the past week or so I've been sorting things out to move over to Thailand early January. There are a bunch of players from 2p2 heading across and we're planning on renting a few nice houses and living like kings for a few months. Seems like a no brainer to me... hot weather, beaches, nightlife, tourist stuff and thai girls!

However with all of the current BS going on over there it's making me a bit anxious about booking flights across. I mean for starters right now you can't even fly into Bangkok! Anti-government protesters have taken over the 2 main airports and are vowing not to leave until the Thai Prime Minister resigns which is unlikely. Looks like the Thai police will have to remove them by force over the next few days which will probably be violent and messy.

Possibly not the best time to be planning an extended stay across there but most of the trouble seems to be in Bangkok, which I'll only be flying through and visiting.

Oh, almost forgot this guy... what a legend... "A maverick Thai general who has threatened to bomb anti-government protesters and drop snakes on them from helicopters has been reassigned as an aerobics teacher, the Bangkok Post said on Friday." Ahhh :D Linky

Interesting spot on the river. At the time I thought his range was super polarised to a set, but looking back on it TcKc and TcAc are in there too. Still think a bet/call is best as sets aren't value betting if checked to. I keyed 333 then thought 222 might look a bit more blockery and he might shove over to try to fold my AA/KK. In heinsight I probably prefer 333, meh.

Anyways... ship it.

^ Salut! France by Errors

Soooooo after chilling out for the last couple of weeks and 2 relaxing long weekend breaks I'm really in the mood now to get going more. Gonna set myself a few goals for the end of the month...
  • All huds/mods/software fully setup on iPoker/AP/FTP
  • 10-15k hands
  • Setup new gym membership
Bunch of other stuff too, but those are the key things. I'm also going to be pretty focussed on trying out new daily/weekly routines over the next couple of weeks. It's great having all this freedom but I feel like I need some structure too... there's a shitload I could post about this, so I'll likely do that over the next couple of weeks.

Advertising
As you'll probably have noticed I'm adding advertising to the sidebars on this blog. I think it's pretty relevant and non-intrusive so it's all good. Let me know if you have any thoughts, if it bothers you, etc.

Travelling
I've been doing a bunch of thinking on moving abroad and travelling next year. The UIGEA stuff kind of sparked this, it made me realise how much freedom I have at the moment. I can basically do my job from anywhere in the world so long as I've got a solid internet connection.

Here are my thoughts on possible stuff I could do...

Snowboarding holiday to Austria in January. Get house in Thailand Feb-April, visit some of Singapore/Hong Kong/Macau/Japan. Either stay there for a couple more months or move to Seoul for a bit, or maybe Melbourne. Maybe come home for a couple of weeks before the WSOP.

If poker is going well come June/July I'll probably head over to Vegas for the WSOP again. After that I'd like to roadtrip the west coast after that, San Diego, LA, SF, Seattle, Vancouver.

Also semi-interested in Beunos Aires, loads of Canada, New Zealand (maybe next winter), and a euro roadtrip at some point.

I'm not into spending a lot of time travelling on my own, I'd much rather do it with friends or other poker players... so my plans are mostly going to depend on other people. So if anything I hit on intrests you ship me an email or hit me up on IM.

My priority at the moment is getting a house setup for early next year with some poker players. Needs to be somewhere warm (f*** Scottish winters), Thailand is looking good right now.

UIGEA passed

So the act preventing Internet gambling in the USA got passed today and will be in place 1 day before Obama steps into office. If you're an american player this basically means that you're fucked, if you're from elsewhere it means the games are about to get tougher again.

The act
The Act prohibits gambling businesses from knowingly accepting payments in connection with unlawful Internet gambling, including payments made through credit cards, electronic funds transfers, and checks. In addition to this US banks will have to put steps in place to prevent customers making payments to internet gambling sites. The banks will have until December 2009 to comply although it's be expected that most banks will have steps in place way before then.

What will happen?
It kind of remains to be seen really, bit early to tell. There's a lot of work to be done to put this in place, which won't happen overnight. A lot of strong American players will probably relocate to Canada or elsewhere to continue playing. With a combination of this and American fish no longer being able to deposit online this will lead to the games getting tougher (again). Stars/FTP should release statements on their stances pretty soon but it's unlikely they'll pull out of the US market.

Not the best news after quitting my job 2 weeks ago but hell at least I can still play. It really sucks for all of the US players who have to suffer because of their spastic government.

UIGEA is back

Bush's administration are lining up a bunch of "midnight rules" that they're going to sneak in just before they leave office. One of these is the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. Instead of waiting until Obama gets into office and spending the correct amount of time exploring the consequences of these new rules they're going to stuff them into the law at the 11th hour.

If it passes it will cripple poker in the states, having a huge effect on the poker industry and my livelihood as a poker player. If you're from the US and care at all about this I'd urge you to do the following immediately...

Please call the U.S. Federal Reserve and tell them not to approve the UIGEA regulations -- Consumer Complaints, 888-851-1920 or Public Affairs, 202-452-2955.

Tell them:

* The federal agencies responsible for our nation’s economy should not be focused on Internet poker regulations.
* Finalization of the UIGEA rules will add additional burdens on our already crippled financial systems.
* Internet poker is a game of skill and form of recreation for millions of Americans; it should be exempted from the UIGEA.
* Please do not finalize the UIGEA regulations until their impact on our banking systems and average Americans has been fully studied.

Your call will make a huge difference and will add the public’s voice to these last minute policy decisions our government is poised to make. We can’t stand idly by while they make decisions that will impact our right to play America’s card game. PLEASE CALL TODAY!

^ that is without doubt one of the worst music videos I've ever seen :D

Blogging will be pretty quiet this month as I'm taking it off to relax, hang out with friends/family, etc. Life is good! Just about to head up to the highlands for the weekend and will be down south in Manchester seeing family next weekend.

Pretty much set up on the new laptop now. Took a solid 2 days swapping HM over and re-modding all of the poker sites I play at. The screen is disgusting, can 9-table on iPoker tiled with no overlap!

Been playing some DeadSpace, which is awesome. Will probably pick up Gears of War 2 tomorrow too, looks sick. Saw the new bond film and it's a solid 7/10, nowhere as good as Casino Royale but still a solid action film. Burn After Reading is easily one of the best films I've seen this year, don't want to hype it but go see it!

S'update

^ old school Biffy Clyro

Cheers to everyone for the comments left on the post below. It's cool to have so much encouragement and advice, I appreciate it.

Motivation and Goals
I've not played a single hand of poker this month which is kind of wierd. I do have a lot of motivation to play, but at the same time I really feel like spending my time just now finishing up work properly and getting everything sorted out for next month.

I kind of feel like I've achieved my unwritten goal when I started this blog of getting myself into the position where I could play as my main source of income. I'll have new goals after finishing work, so at the moment I'm essentially goal-less. I don't see a lot of point in playing so I'm enjoying the last few weeks at work instead.

Other random shit
Ordered a pretty sick new laptop, went for a 17" Dell beast with a 1920x1280 screen which will be real good for multi-tabling. It's still in production despite ordering it a week ago and likely won't be delivered until the start of next month. Bit of a pain as I was hoping to have it all set up by then, but whatever.

Went to see Mogwai earlier in the week who were pretty average but with a few mindblowingly good tracks. Incredibly loud and powerful sound, youtube "batcat" for a good example. Going to see The Music next week, and managed to get Metallica/Machine Head tickets today... wheeeee!

Doubt I'll really have much to post about poker wise 'til I get started next month. Looking forward to grinding a ton!

Oh and it goes without saying, watch the new 25/50 aejones video on Leggo, it's fucking A.

It's go time

I have handed in my notice as a videogames designer at Rockstar and from the 1st of November I'll be pursuing poker as my main source of income.

It's something I've been thinking about doing for the past year and over the last few months my situation has really become perfect to give it a shot. I've become unsure that I want to continue with my current career path long-term so now is a good time to get out there and experience other things before settling down.

I'd like to spend some time living a different type of lifestyle, with freedom to travel, more time to spend working on music and time to develop myself in other areas I'm interested in - mainly personal development, psychology and business. Realistically I don't think poker will work for me as a main source of income for more than 2-3 years. I think by that time the games will likely be considerably less beatable/profitable and I'll likely become bored of the game.

Career
At the moment I don't really know what I want to do career-wise long term, so I'm hoping to explore my options by meeting a lot of people, doing some courses on things I'm interested in and working on some business ideas. I could find that I miss the games industry and want to move back after a year or two, but I'd like to take the chance of finding something that could be potentially more fulfilling.

Poker
I'm very confident that poker can fund what I want to do for the next couple of years and has the potential to make me a lot more money than required. I have a ~100k hand sample at $200nl running at 3.5ptbb, so playing a modest 30k hands month (around 70-80hrs work) I'd make around $6k after rakeback. Seeing as poker is untaxed in the UK that's a pretty sweet monthly.

I'll be spending around 20 hours per month working on my game too, so over the next 5-6 months I'd hope to be clearing $10k/month average with a combination of getting better, moving up stakes and increasing the amount of tables I'm playing. There's always the option to put more volume in if say I want to go on a big holiday the next month, that sort of flexibility really appeals to me.

Attitude
I think over the next couple of months I'll see a lot of changes in my attitude towards things. I'll be focusing my poker time playing and working on my game, this could mean I'll be less likely to want to chat over hands on IM, etc, I don't really know yet. I strongly believe that balance is important in life, I'm not doing this to "be a pro", I'm doing this to improve my overall lifestyle, increase my earnings and give myself more free time to do things that are important to me. I think it's going to be pretty important to remind myself that every once in a while.

Blogging
So I've got kind of conflicting views on what I want to do with this blog. I really don't want it to become somewhere that I post too regularly, as it would detract too much from things that I'd be far better spending my time on. I certainly don't want to be posting after losing or winning X-buyins in a day as that kind of thing doesn't help me achieve the real mindset I'll need as a serious player. On a semi-tangent those sorts of "I had a bad day and need to vent hands and stats" posts on other peoples blogs really tilt the fuck out of me, I've just go no time for it and I wouldn't expect whoever is reading this to either.

That being said I do still really enjoy blogging, and I think my lifestyle and journey over the next few years could be pretty interesting, so I'd like to keep track of it. I'll probably get more personal in stuff I'm posting about and talk more about the lifestyle of playing poker for a living as that's what interests me when reading other players blogs.

I'm also really interested in (competitive) mindset stuff and will be looking to develop myself a lot in that area so I'll probably be writing a bunch of articles as I try things out to improve my mindset. Not decided yet if I'll post exact $$$ figures of how much I'm making per month, what my bankroll is, etc, I think that changes when it becomes your livelihood rather than a pastime! :)

So that's about it, wish me luck! :D

Levelling

This post is more of a reminder to myself than anything else...

I touched on levelling a little while ago after reading NLH:THAP my Skansky/Miller but really never implemented much of it into my game. When I analyse hands after sessions or in real-time my opponents perception of my hand rarely factors into my reasoning and decision making.

In a lot of situations it doesn't really matter... I mean if I'm playing against some 60/10/1 fish then I'd assume he's only thinking about his hand (level 0). Against this opponent the correct strategy for me is to bet according to my hand and my perception of his range (level 1). So basically I'd just be looking to valuetown the fuck out of him and probably not run too many bluffs as he'll be calling down light. This is simple poker and it should be the default strategy for SSNL. Obviously you come across a player at 50nl or 100nl that's thinking above level 1, but they're going to be in the tiny minority so it's better to assume most players are thinking at level 1.

It gets more interesting at MSNL where opponents are generally better players and will be thinking about the game more deeply. There are a lot more situations when it's optimal to be taking into consideration what you opponent thinks of your hand - or range of hands (level 2). So when you get involved in a pot with a 'thinking player' you can start making more sophisticated plays based on how you're representing your hand. Value betting light if your hand is under-repped or running bluffs in spots where a street would likely have hit your perceived range.

Against the 1/2 and 2/4 regs I really need to be thinking about this a bit more. It's incredibly important in 3bet pots... and will gain importance the higher limits I'm playing.

For more read over No Limit Hold'em: Theory and Practise by Sklansky/Miller... P.168 - Multiple Level Thinking.

September Review

VICTORY!!!This has been my best month to date, clearing $4,400 (after including poker related side incomes). Biggest month previous to this was $3,800 last March. Pretty damn happy, a great start to the $10k to $20k goal :)

... plus a lot of RB, Bonii, etc. Pretty much a slaughtering of 1/2, and I ran $1.2k under EV! First 10k hands were a real slog, and I was actually breakeven, then had 2 $1k days back to back where I ran really well and cruised to 15k hands.

Watched loads of Leggo videos so hit that target, however I didn't get through the whole MSNL forum. Got pretty bored of it after a couple of weeks and it became a grind and I decided to do other things - like post lots of hands - instead. Still determined to get through it though, so will do the rest next month.

Next month, more of the same. I'm now 35x rolled for 2/4 but I'm not going to move up just yet. Will stick at 1/2 but try to mix a few thousand hands of 2/4 in when there are good games running. More Leggo videos, I'll have a Stox membership as of next month so will check out some of the stuff there too.

Some stuff to check out

This thread titled Change Your Life by Adsman on 2+2 is easily one of the best ever. Definately have a read!

Been thinking about shipping some money over to Party and playing there for a bit. Will probably give it a crack next month although I've heard the games have tightened up a lot since the good old days. There's new party poker software out now with resize-able tables, auto-reload to 100bb FTP style, pot buttons and a bunch more stuff. Worth a look for the Euros.

Last week of the month

Brag: I'm set to clear $1k in RB+Bonus
Beat: I'm only 1/4 through LeggoPoker MSNL forum :S
Variance: I'm down $1.4k in Sklansky Bucks

Current hand count... 11,400

Mid-month Update

It's been a pretty solid month so far. Got a decent amount of hands in, watched a few Leggo videos, 1/3 of my way through Leggo MSNL forum, and been helping Andy&Matt out a bit with some hand analysis.

Was hoping to get more hands in tonight but I seem to be having problems playing more than 4 tables on AP just now. The software really crushes my laptop and causes lots of slowdown, good excuse to buy one of the new Dell Studio laptops maybe? :>

A couple of guys on my buddy list were at 2/4 tonight so played a little there, but ran poorly as usual. Here's my month so far...

Still a long way to the 15k hands target for the end of the month. Will need to get my grinding hat on, doing a bunch of other stuff at the moment too. Trying to get my drums skills up to scratch and join a band, fortunately there's a sweet studio only a 10min walk from work, really handy. Song at the top is Screamager by Therapy?

Sweet Sunday

Wouldn't normally post short-term results but I'm rewarding myself with this brag for playing 2,500 hands today ;) All $1/2...

New goal... $10k to $20k

Over the past few weeks I've been re-evaluating my life a bit and seeing where poker fits in. As a result of that I've decided to increase poker as a priority and create some new goals to help drive on to where I want to be. I've been making a bunch of changes to live a more healthy and balanced life and working on a lot of personal development which will have a very positive effect on my poker game.

My primary poker goal is now to make $10,000 by the end of the year. This works out pretty nice as I currently have a $10k roll, so the challenge is to double that in 4 months. I think this is achievable, especially when rakeback is factored in at around $1k per month.

Hoping to continue on from a great month of 1/2 in August, here are my goals for this month:

  • 15k hands (this MUST be met)
  • 5 Leggo videos (minimum)
  • Read every post in Leggo MSNL forum
That's all for now, I've updated some of the headers of the blog to reflect the changes. Really looking forward to getting started, it's great to have something new to work towards.

August review

Gonna wrap up August a little early as I'm headed up north to see family for most of tomorrow. I'm pretty happy with the month overall, got HEM setup and got into more of a rhythm of playing. 5-6 tabling 90 min sessions seem to be how I play best, taking a break then playing another one if I'm still in the mood. Anyways, results...

Results
Didn't get as many hands in as I'd have liked to due to taking a 10 day break to do some life stuff (and drinking). With RB, bonii and some other stuff I finish the month around breakeven. Which I'm happy with considering $2.7k losses at 2/4 & 3/6! Obviously 1/2 went really well. My roll is at around $10k.

Hold'em Manager
I set this up, and it's fantastic. The huds take a little while to customise, but when done they're great. Opted for just VPIP/PFR/AGG FACTOR stats on the front hud, and using popups for things like 3bet, squeeze, etc. One thing that I really like in the popups is using the PFR from position to narrow down opponent ranges. There's just so much that can be done with the software, I'm really looking forward to spending time digging deeper in it.

Railing, Coaching, Leggo
Did a couple of railing sessions with BTimm, LadyMuck and DWarrior early in the month. They were fun but I don't really think they're an optimal way to use study time for poker. I don't play well while being railed, which is frustrating. I'm loving LeggoPoker at the moment... the quality of videos there is just so high. Happy with Leggo and posting hands on forums as my education just now.

Kind of liking not getting any coaching at the moment, it's nice to feel like I'm moulding my own game rather than implementing someone elses ideas. I think I'll try to steer more away from coaching until I run bad or move up or something. Not really much of a need for it at the moment.

I'll be posting new goals and some other things tomorrow night. For now, here are some cute otters (+ Japanese girls)

Hmm videos might be busted... wierd

More music, less poker

Got a bunch of stuff on at the moment that's taking priority over poker, so not much to report right now as I'm not playing. Still getting in some study, and almost finished setting up my bankroll across some new sites. At the end of the month I'll be setting new overall goals for poker, a $$$ target for the end of the year and monthly goals.

Went to a few gigs last week. Louis XIV, N*E*R*D, and Pendulum who were freaking amazing. Video at the top is their edit of an old Prodigy track.

Congrats to Dodgy who got made a LeggoPoker pro yesterday!

F'king sick

Booooooooo

Been running well at $1/2 this month. My bankroll moved past the $12k mark so I've been taking some shots at $2/4 and $3/6 games when the lineups are soft. This has went pretty badly lol, month so far...
Since moving back over to iPoker I'm becoming really irritated by the lack of tables. Often I'll only have 2-3 decent $1/2 tables available which is a pain in the ass. Decided to move my FTP roll over to AP and play some on there. If anyone wants FTP$$$ for AP or Stars gimmi a shout, can do up to $6k.

Anyways, yea so the 2/4 and 3/6 has sucked ass and kind of put me in a bad fuckin mood because it feels like I've lost all my hard earned $1/2 winnings from this month! But that's really a stupid way to think about it. 2bi down at 600 and 3.5bi down at 400 is nothing. I guess I just forgot how the variance felt at the MSNL levels!

No more 2/4 or 3/6 this month. Losing more buy-ins at it would tilt me, so it's 1/2 all the way from here... despite the strong urge to "get even".

I feel like I'm kind of forcing my play at the moment. I've made a few bad calls and bad shoves without thinking about the plays too much at the time. The lack of time on the iPoker tables irritates me. So I'm gonna break for a wee bit, gonna go hang out watch a couple of movies tonight. Then gonna go snowboarding tomorrow, and just generally chill out and forget poker for a bit.

Went to see this comedian last night at the Edinburgh Festival... it's about the 6th/7th show I've been to in the past few weeks and he was by FAR the best! Was crying laughter tears for half the show! :) He's called Louis CK.

Know your math

Cheers for the feedback on the last couple of hands. The 2nd one particularly fixed a leak in my deep game where I play strong draws with showdown value too aggressively.

Anyways, here's a link to an awesome quiz Bobbofitos made up around a year a go and recently re-posted on Leggo. It involves determining the most profitable plays with drawing hands. It's just 3 hands but teaches some pretty important stuff.

Quiz ... answers are halfway down.

FTP $1/2 review - Hand 2

Have some BTimm certified Minus the Bear for this hand...

Villain seems like a good 22/19 reg

$1/$2 Deep at FTP
6 players

Stacks:
UTG
($397.00)
UTG+1
($661.15)
CO
($764.20)
Hero
($403.30)
SB
($204.00)
BB
($751.85)

Pre-flop: ($3, 6 players) Hero is BTN

UTG raises to $8, 2 folds, Hero calls $8, 2 folds

Preflop call doesn't look great, but the BB is on monkey-tilt and is playing every hand hence the semi-loose BTN flat. Unfortunately he doesn't come along.

Flop: ($19, 2 players)
UTG bets $15, Hero raises to $48, UTG raises to $162, $114 to Hero ($347.3)?

Flop he's gonna lead most of his range on that board. Raise here seems standard, but lets think about villain's range a little. He's playing 22/19 so is likely opening around the same as I do UTG. All pairs, AJ+, KQ and some pretty looking SCs like 98s, TJs. He's probably going to lead that flop with his whole range so not much info gained there.

Should I raise flop? Instant thought is yea, I have a pr and a FD, but this is 100BB thinking, because I'd be willing to go with the hand on the flop. Here if I end up with all of my 200BB in on the flop then I'm going to be behind.

One thing I'm not doing enough at the moment when playing is thinking "how would I react if villain raised me?", a lot of the time if the answer to this is "i'd have to fold a hand with strong value" then I shouldn't bet/raise. So maybe on this basis I shouldn't raise flop here, I'm not sure. I guess if he does raise it often won't price me out and force me to fold. I do get value from AJ/KQ/some lower FDs, so I think popping it up is ok, I make it 3x his raise and change, which I think is a pretty nice size, a little bigger would have been fine too I think.

He then comes over the top for $162 total. At this point 100bb deep I'm obviously just mashing the all-in button, but here we've got more to think about. His range is now REALLY polarised...

He now doesn't have a bare flush draw, as I have the Ah and he's not gonna make it $162 to go with any other FD. There's an outside chance he might have opened UTG pre with QhJh or JhTh, but it's not that big a factor so can pretty much be ignored I reckon.

So his range is now almost exclusively AK and sets. Does he ever do this with AQ? I doubt it, he's just gonna flat AQ there.

So now we know he's got a set or AK. We also know he's never ever ever folding now. So shoving my draw has no fold equity. Given that my hand is a 2/1 dog to his range shoving is not an option. So do I have odds to call?

At the time I miscalculated my outs, I put him on a looser range and thought the 2 As left were at least partial outs and the 4s maybe had some out value too. Turns out none of these are outs against his range. So all I have is a 9 out flush draw - 20% to hit my flush on the turn. None of my outs are counterfeitted by pairing the board (but it could runner-runner pair).

I have to assume he's shoving the turn regardless of the card. We're playing with an effective $227 behind. It's costing me $114 to call into a pot that will be $343. So I've only got an immediate 33% equity. But factoring in that i'll get the rest of his stack if I hit I actually have exactly 20% equity.

So it's a breakeven spot. Probably a slightly -EV spot due to the chance of being runner-runner counterfeitted or the very slim chance that he could muck AK on the turn if a flush card hits.

Obviously at the time I thought I had odds, called and fistpump stacked him with a beautiful 6h on the turn. FWIW he had KK.

Hud!

I couldn't find any decent iPoker 6-max miniview huds for Holdem Manager so made one tonight. Took fucking ages, miniview is such a tight setup, there's hardly any space to put the stats! Colours setup on all variables, mucked cards in correct places, etc.

Stats go:

Hands Played.....VPIP%....Steal%
Name...............PFR%.....3bet%
......................Aggfctr...BetRiver%

A lot of the other stats I like to use while playing, like cbet, aggression by streets, fold to 3bet%, 4bet%, etc. Are all on the cool popup menus that HM has. Might get around to customised these at some stage but this will do for now.

Anyways, feel free to pillage.

FTP $1/2 review - Hand 1

Finished playing at FTP now, reviewing some of the interesting hands. Over the next week or so I'll post them on here with my analysis. It'd be cool if you guys can give some input and hopefully can get some strategy talk 'goin.

villain is 13/13

$1/$2 at FTP
4 players

Stacks:
Hero
($238.00)
BTN
($203.00)
SB
($331.55)
BB
($97.50)

Pre-flop: ($3, 4 players) Hero is CO

Hero raises to $7, 1 fold, SB raises to $26, 1 fold, Hero calls $19

I flat his 3bet here because I don't think he'll ever 5betshove any hands I beat. I'll either be flipping or against AK. I'll play the hand with position postflop and try to figure out what he has.

I put his 3betting range on like TT+/AK kind of thing, maybe even JJ+. It's pretty tight.

Flop: ($54, 2 players)
SB bets $34, Hero calls $34

Turn: ($122, 2 players)
SB checks, Hero ($178)?

When he checks turn I take it as weakness and bet, which I now think was a big mistake. If he is indeed weak and has AK, he just mucks it here, there's not much value in betting and I don't really need to protect my hand all that much from a 6-out draw. If he has JJ (or sometimes TT) I'll probably get his stack in, but the times he has KK/AA and is smart enough to turn/checkraise me I'm going to lose my stack. It's a spot where there just isn't really any value in betting.

I think checking behind turn is the best play here. Pretty interesting how this hand figures out after analysing it taking his tight 3b range into account.

Recently discovered Flight of the Conchords. So. Awesome.
